Mississauga Off-Leash Park Locations
Battleford Park was relocated in 2003 to a new larger site at Totoredaca Park. This is located on Meadowvale Blvd just north of Meadowpine. This new expanded facility has forested walking areas as well as wide play spaces. The agility playground that was so popular at Battleford was rebuilt bigger and better. The Toto group hold demos and flyball and agility fun during the spring to fall seasons. The small dog playground is still there and there are even a few “time out” dog runs for those who become too rambunctious. There is ample parking, shade, water (for drinking and washing off muddy feet, lighting, portable washrooms and places to sit at Toto and lots for the dogs and owners to do as well. Membership as of 2004 was about 300+
Q Park is a fenced off-leash dog play area in Ward 9. It is about 150′ by 200′. Q Park is in Quenippenon Meadows community Park on Erin Centre Blvd., just west of Erin Mills Parkway. It is opposite Erin Mills Town Centre. Watch for a new expanded location east of the forest in 2005.
JACK DARLING PARK
Jack Darling Park is located on Lakeshore Road, west of Clarkson Road in Mississauga in Ward 2. It is a big park and the off-leash area is on the west side. Lots of dogs come here – it gets very busy. You can’t go there on weekends and holidays between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., between Victoria Day and Labour Day. Its is on Lake Ontario but dogs aren’t allowed on the beach.
TOM CHATER PARK
Tom Chater is a small, fenced off-leash run in Ward 8. It is on The Collegeway, west of Winston Churchill Blvd. Collegeway is south of the 403.
This is another fenced run and is in Ward 3. It is smaller than Q Park, but bigger than Tom Chater. Garnetwood Park is on Garnetwood Chase, off Rathburn Road East. Its harder to find because it is not on a main road. To get to it, you have to go along Burnhamthorpe
Road, almost to the Etobicoke border, turn north onto Pony Drive and right onto Rathburn to Garnetwood.
